Bad Movies and Shows critics think are better than The Super Mario. Bros Movie (a look back).

That's definitely not a Maxim Tomato.

Below is a very brief (not comprehensive by any metric) list I composed that is

reflective of the Critics Score on Rotten Tomatoes as of April 2^nd, 2026 which contains shows and movies released after The Super Mario Bros. Movie (April 2023), but before The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (April 2026) which in my view, are worse than The Super Mario Bros. Movie (in my subjective opinion), and have a higher score on Rotten Tomatoes according to the critics rating. All this information can be found on the Rotten Tomatoes website.

This is a retrospective list, as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie just released. So this is a look at a closed window of time of bad movies and shows that released after The Super Mario Bros. Movie, but before The Super Mario Galaxy list that are rated higher. This is individual preference, which is inherently subjective so I’m keeping the list limited to the worst of the worst (which is ultimately still subjective). Shows that are “meh” or “that wasn’t good” won’t fit this list, they need to be really bad. The worst of the worst.

Side note – I didn’t think Mandalorian Season 3 was great, and the first 2 seasons were definitely better, but I don’t think it’s bad enough to make this list, which is subjective, although it does have an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes from the critics.

Maybe 3 years from now if/when the next animated Mario/Nintendo movie releases I’ll make an article of bad movies/shows rated higher than The Super Mario Galaxy Movie between Galaxy’s release date and next animated Mario/Nintendo movie.

As of writing this mini article, The Super Mario Bros. Movie (April 2023) has a 59% (and is “Rotten”) from the critics.
